Your Question On How Your Older Cat and Kitten Would Do Together ?
If there is an age difference, you would need to introduce them
supervised and on your older cats time.
Giving lots of attention to your cat and rewarding with treats and
play time interacting with both at the same time. 
The kitten will be playful, give your cat space to sleep where
the kitten will not pick on her or him to wake up and play.
In time they will adjust and become friends.  
Always have lots of toys out to play with and a cat tree is a must.
A teaser Wand is a good way to play with both cat and kitten
together at the same time.  Give each their own food, water bowl,
and litter box, if they use each others box, that is ok, this gives them
a chance to smell each others scent and get to know one another.
